Co-funanced by the City Hall of Lodz
Co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, from the Culture Promotion Fund under the „Muzyczny Ślad“ programme, carried out by the Institute of Music and Dance.
The „Signed Bajgelman: Impressions“ project is an original take on the musical creations from the interwar and war period of Dawid Bajgelman (1888-1945) – musician, composer and conductor, closely related to Lodz. The premiere concert by the Tubis Trio band took place on the artist’s 130th birthday in August 2018 at the Marek Edelman Dialogue Center in Lodz during a ceremony dedicated to the memory of Lodz ghetto, where Bajgelman spent five years of his life. These young artists have created a vivid, musical story about a world no longer in existence and values that are eternal. Elements of the prewar songs of Bajgelman intertwine with Jewish folk melodies so often cited by the composer and music he composed while in the ghetto. The result is a one of a kind, intriguing musical experience which expresses the atmosphere and emotions of the pas decades by means of the language of 21st century music.
